K12Planet

k12planet evaluation

Attached is my k12planet evaluation. This seems like the right place to put it.

Note -- Although I was initially positive about using this as an interim solution, my final conclusion is that it's just not going to work very well. Skip to the Overall Conclusion section near the end if you want to get to the punch line, as my reasons for recommending against this solution aren't really captured well within the formal evaluation criteria.

K12Planet by Pearson

Introduction

K12Planet is the online/portal offering by Pearson, which also owns the Mac School and Pearson SMS applications that we currently run in Newton schools for managing grades.

Pricing Introduction

K12Planet pricing is surprisingly inexpensive. Pricing is $1.50 per student, but capped at 650 students. In addition, customer/technical support is 20% of that per year. So, here are some example K12Planet implementation pricing

  • 100 students --> $150 license + $30 support = $180
  • 650+ students --> $975 license + $195 support = $1170
